FAQ:

Do we get these in-game?

The only items that are given in-game are items that have the "Realistic" quality applied to them.

How valuable are the real Team Fortress 2 items?

Realistic items ARE NOT GENERATED, this means that all realistic items must conform to Team Fortress 2's item system.

The only conditions that must be met in order for an item to drop are:
  • The item must be in the Steam bot's inventory
  • The item must appear in the Unbox.tf drop pool
  • The item cannot be reserved

  • this means that the following items can be dropped:
  • Unique Pocket Medic
  • Unusual Reel Fly Hat
  • Strange Scrumpy Strongbox

  • and these items cannot be dropped:
  • Unique Tomislav
  • Vintage Lo-Fi Longwave
  • Unique Ghostly Gibus

  • How can I claim my Realistic item?

If it has been less than 30 days since you unboxed it, you can claim your Realistic item by opening your inventory, inspecting the realistic item, and clicking the "Redeem" button. You will be prompted to enter your Steam trade URL, which can be found here.

Can I donate hats to be redistributed?

Yes you can! This is great for when you have a duplicate hat you don't need.

Is there any way to unbox faster?

The only way to unbox faster is using /usekey to use a key unbox. There is no way to use /unbox faster. There is no way to pay to unbox faster.

    Why do realistic items expire?

Because the Steam bot's inventory has limited space. We simply don't have enough room to have potentially hundreds of unclaimed items. This means that we need the ability to redistribute unclaimed items if they aren't claimed within a realistic time after unboxing. This also allows for unclaimed Realistic items within deleted accounts to be redistributed. We think that 30 days should be enough time to do whatever trading or selling you wish to do.

My Realistic item expired! Can I still redeem it?

Realistic items reserve a real Team Fortress 2 item for 30 days. After this time has passed, the item is redistributed and you can no longer redeem it.

I scrapped an item by accident! Can I undo that?

Scrapping an item is a permanent action, and cannot be undone. Items are almost always accidentally scrapped while doing mass key unboxing mixed with muscle-memory quick-scrapping. Slow down and make sure you no longer want the item before pressing the scrap button.

I deleted an item by accident! Can I undo that?

Deleting is a permanent action, and cannot be undone.

    Can I re-describe an item?

Currently, there is no way to re-describe an item after it has been described.

I am unhappy with a trade I have made, can I undo it?

Please make sure you are happy with any trade you do. Trades cannot be undone.

I've been banned! How can I appeal?

Bans are done manually by Unbox.tf staff, and are issued after evidence that proves "beyond all doubt" that a serious rule has been broken is collected. As such, bans are nonnegotiable and cannot be removed by staff. If an incorrect ban has been issued, it will be removed automatically after a review.
