Unbox.tf Terms of Service
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using the Unbox.tf API, website, or related services (collectively, the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service. We may update the Terms at any time by posting a revised version; continued use constitutes acceptance of changes.
2. Eligibility & Accounts
- You must be at least 16 years old or meet the age of digital consent in your jurisdiction.
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your API key, password, and any linked Discord account.
- We may suspend or terminate access if we detect unauthorized use, suspicious trades, or policy violations.
3. Acceptable Use
When using the Service you agree not to:
- Abuse rate limits, attempt to reverse engineer backend systems, or interfere with the availability of the Service.
- Upload malicious data, including malformed profile pictures or JSON payloads intended to exploit vulnerabilities.
- Harvest other users' data beyond what the API exposes for legitimate trading functionality.
- Use the Service for fraud, gambling, money laundering, or activity that violates Valve/Steam rules.
4. Core Rules & Responsible Use
All trading must occur within the Unbox.tf network; off-platform trading, real-money exchanges, or attempts to move items for external value are prohibited. Automated unboxing, bots, or scripts that simulate user interaction are not allowed. Each person may maintain only one account that opens keyless crates. You may not use inappropriate, abusive, or offensive language in messages, nor upload inappropriate profile pictures.
The Service is designed for entertainment, not gambling. Drop rates are intentionally heavily increased compared to official TF2 rates to make the experience more fun and to avoid harm. You would not realize similar outcomes in real gambling. Do not use the Service to justify gambling activity, and do not spend money expecting returns. If you find yourself struggling, please stop and seek support.
5. Content & Ownership
- You retain rights to the content you supply (usernames, descriptions, profile pictures), but grant us a worldwide, royalty-free license to store, process, and display it for operating the Service.
- The TF2 schema information and generated item images are derived from Valve Corporation assets and remain Valve's intellectual property; we process and redistribute them under Valve's applicable licenses and policies.
- Platform code, tooling, and other original assets developed for Unbox.tf remain our intellectual property.
6. Virtual Items & Marketplace
- All listings, trades, or claims processed through the Service represent virtual goods with no guaranteed monetary value and may only be exchanged for other in-game items or services within the platform.
- Any attempt to buy, sell, or otherwise exchange Unbox.tf inventory for real-world currency or items of real-world monetary value is strictly prohibited and will result in immediate termination.
- Prices, availability, and item properties can change at any time. We do not guarantee that trades will clear or that market offers will execute.
7. Data & Privacy
By using the Service you consent to the privacy policy.
8. Service Availability
- The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of uptime, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
- We may suspend or discontinue parts of the Service (including schema database updates or marketplace endpoints) at our discretion.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Unbox.tf and its contributors shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages arising from your use of the Service, even if advised of the possibility.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Unbox.tf, its operators, and contributors from any claim or demand arising out of your misuse of the Service, violation of these Terms, or infringement of any third-party rights.
11. Termination
We may terminate or suspend access immediately, without notice, for any breach of these Terms. Upon termination you must stop accessing the Service, though sections intended to survive (e.g., Limitation of Liability) will remain in effect.
